Who We Are
For almost 20 years, LILI has addressed educational inequities in Washington, DC by immersing students in grades 3-5 in learning experiences that expose them to new places, content, and career opportunities. Through our classroom lessons and field experiences during the school day, LILI works to level the playing field for students all across the city by sharing the power and joy of rigorous, experience-driven learning.
Our staff is responsible for day-to-day operations and facilitating our programs, while the Board works closely with the Co-Executive Directors to inform strategic and organizational decision-making.
Role of the Board
The LILI Board provides governance and oversight and works with staff to ensure the programmatic impact and fiscal-well being of the organization. Board member commitments include:
Attending at least 3 out of 4 regularly scheduled board meetings and being prepared to participate by reading materials provided prior to the meeting.
Serving on one committee (meetings ~1/month) and actively participating in its work.
Making a financial contribution each fiscal year that is meaningful and significant to you.
Participating in LILI events and securing the interest, service, and financial support of others who appreciate LILlβs mission and programs.
We are especially looking for applications from those with experience in
Fundraising (Major gift & Corporate partnerships
Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)
Marketing
Financial management and accounting
We also welcome applications from caregivers of students currently in DCPS. While those are our areas of focus, we are open to all who are interested in applying.
