In collaboration with the National Geographic Channel, Live It Learn It has launched a documentary filmmaking program with students from selected Washington, DC public schools. This year, 6th grade students from Ferebee-Hope Elementary shared stories from their lives (featured below).

Experts from the National Geographic Channel, with support from Live It Learn It, taught a series of lessons to give students the skills they needed to create their own short documentaries. The lessons focused on:
- the process of story writing
- creating "storyboards" and shooting scripts
- operating a camera and using effective techniques for filming
As the culminating activity, students traveled to National Geographic for an unveiling of their documentaries on the big screen.
This special program combines the academic components of Live It Learn It's core Academic Programs with the introduction to exciting career opportunities provided by our Pathways to Professions programs.
Ms. Hallums' 6th grade class celebrates their successful screening.
